Background

Concentric was retained to conduct a Phase I ESA for the publicly owned vacant properties that made up a Business Park. There were a total of 77 publicly owned vacant lots which encompassed an approximate 77 acre (31 hectare) area.

Approach & Methodology

The Phase I ESA was carried out in accordance with the practices identified in Canadian Standards Association document Z768-01 Phase I Environmental Site Assessment, (2001, as amended). The site reconnaissance included a walk-over visual inspection of the site and cursory observations of adjacent properties from the site boundary and publicly accessible areas, and interviews of personnel familiar with the site.

Key Challenges

Because the vacant lots encompassed such a large area, Concentric had to address potential areas of environmental concern on a lot by lot basis.
