Indoor Air Quality - INVESTIGATION and AIR SAMPLING, CHEMOTHERAPY UNIT
Indoor Air Quality - Engineering - INVESTIGATION and AIR SAMPLING, CHEMOTHERAPY UNIT

In the late fall of 2005 heavy rains caused water infiltration into the chemotherapy treatment unit of a provincial health care facility.

Although the maintenance staff did their best to respond and dry the affected areas, portions of the facility remained wet for a period of approximately 24 to 48 hours which is ample time for primary colonizer mold growth.

Since exposure to mold spores can represent a significant hazard to immuno-compromised chemotherapy patients, the health care facility retained Concentric to investigate the areas of concern within the facility.

Following strict procedures outlined by the Public Health Agency of Canada, Concentric was able to investigate and sample the areas of concern without compromising the safety of patients and staff.
