In 2002, a large prefinished aluminum panel detached from this 17-year-old federal laboratory building during high winds, prompting an investigation into the adequacy of the cladding system, and subsequently, the overall adequacy of the exterior wall assembly.
Concentric has represented the interests of the building owner in developing a practical long-term solution to the premature failure of the cladding system.
Work to date has included invasive investigation, assessment, reporting, risk assessment, design and construction of protective measures, preparation of design and tender documents, tendering, and contract award.
The construction has involved complete panel removal, upgrades to the building envelope, strengthening of the fastening system, and panel reinstatement.
The bulk of the construction portion of the project was completed in 2005 and 2006, with Concentric providing full time construction administration services.
