In 2005, Concentric was retained to oversee and administer the contract for the site preparation of a new Health Centre.
The preparation of the site posed numerous challenges due to the fact it is located on the site of a former water reservoir that was filled in 1989.
Due to the uncertainty in construction practices during the in-filling of the old water storage facility, it was deemed that all previously placed in-fill material should be replaced with compacted engineered fill.
To assist with the characterization of the in-fill material, Concentric constructed several test-pits throughout the site and created logs of the soil stratigraphy.
Concentric prepared a topographic survey of the site in order to make informed decisions with respect to building placement.
Due to our expertise in harsh climate engineering Concentric was retained again in 2006 to assess the site prior to backfilling activities, to oversee the placement of approximately 5,000 cubic metres of engineered fill, and to review the installation of a thermo-syphon system.
