Concentric was retained in 2006 to provide consulting services for a 900-litre fuel oil release that resulted in a contaminant plume extending underneath a residence and off-site.
As with many of the residential oil spill projects where the residential structure represents a barrier to remediating contaminated media, Concentric’s environmental team collaborated with its structural engineering group in devising the remedial action plan.
By doing so, Concentric was able to provide options to the property insurer (the client) in consideration of remediation costs and liability exposure.
As a result of Concentric’s recommendations, the residence was demolished and 2,000 metric tonnes of contaminated soil were excavated and disposed of at a licensed landfill.
All remedial activities were completed within a two-week time frame and under budget.
